I’ve been devoting my life to music from the age of eight when I started playing the drums. I gave my first performance at the age of nine and has since then given hundreds of concerts. I studied and played the drums actively for 14 years.

When I first visited India, I went inside a shop of musical instruments to have a look around. I felt drawn to this simple, unassuming piece of bamboo lying on one of the shelves. I picked it up and tried to take command over it but failed. How foolish am I? Completely unimpressed, it wouldn’t make any sound. A gentleman came over and asked me if he could show me how to make it sing. I said yes and after some trial and error it suddenly made a whispering sound! I got enthralled and excited but when I tried again it was gone.

The bamboo has given me a promise, the promise of something greater, more beautiful, full of poetry.

This simple piece of bamboo with 7 holes has since that very day completely spellbound me and taught me about life and beauty.
